A German Village garden party gala benefit, “Tea 43206,“ is scheduled for Saturday August 18, 2012, from 4-7 p.m.
The event will be held at the German Village Guest House, 748 Jaeger Street, and will feature live musical entertainment, a silent auction and best hat contest. Tea, wine and elegant hors d’oeuvres and pastries will be served.
Festive garden party attire is requested (and gorgeous hats are encouraged!).
The proceeds of this event will benefit a the Fund for Historic Preservation at the German Village Society. The Fund is used to support the Society’s mission-centric programming for historic preservation and education.

To augment the focus on historic preservation — make a full weekend of it! The German Village Society is honored to welcome Rhonda Sincavage from the National Trust for Historic Preservation for a discussion and cocktail reception on Friday, August 17. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m. The reception is open to the public with a suggested donation of $20 on site.
Ms. Sincavage will talk about the role of place in happiness and how architecture affects our quality of life. She will present for about 15 minutes, and then will be joined on stage by three additional historic preservationists for a panel discussion.
Ms. Sincavage is the Associate Director for Intergovernmental Affairs at the National Trust and has an extensive background in urban planning, advocacy and public policy. Prior to employment at the National Trust, she was Vice President of Preservation Action, the national grassroots lobbying organization for historic preservation. Ms. Sincavage is a frequent lecturer on the topic of building community in historic urban neighborhoods, including a TEDx presentation in Cleveland in 2011. Watch that presentation here.
