Photography Exhibit Reopens Fest Hall

March 10, 2013 by admin in Archive - Village News with 0 Comments

At least 250 art lovers and Village supporters turned out Sunday, March 10, for the opening of Adi Mizrahi’s “Night In The German Village” photography exhibit, which will be on display in Brent Warner Fest Hall at the German Village Society Meeting Haus through March 31.  The public is welcome to visit during regular business hours: M-F 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The exhibit was also the official unveiling party for the new Brent Warner Fest Hall at the German Village Society Meeting Haus. Fest Hall has just undergone $45,000 in renovations to freshen the décor and to make a showplace for a whole slate of art exhibits in 2013. The full calendar is below.

During the reception, Mizrahi signed copies of his coffee table book by the same name.

German Village Society is so grateful to Art Committee members Sandy Kight, Ed Elberfeld, Carole Genshaft and Jeff Stahler for putting together this year’s exhibit schedule, and for coordinating a beautiful event on March 10.

Thank you, as well, to Maintenance Committee members Roy Bieber, Mary Connolly-Ross, Ned Merkle, Jeff Ruff, David Schooler and Chris King – who worked tirelessly with contractor Brian Collins to deliver the Fest Hall updates on time and with a beautiful result.

More About Mizrahi:

Mizrahi, an Israeli-born and Santa Monica College Photography Department-trained photographer, aims to discover the unexplored world with his work.

“Photography for me has a lot of meanings: self-expression, better understanding of reality, and expressing my interpretation of the world around me,” Mizrahi said. “My intuition is to find subject matters that I have an emotional connection with and objects that can tell a story. My ‘Night In The German Village’ project was so interesting because it was not about photographing people but photographing houses that have a history in each of them. Processing each image and learning the story behind each house that was built in the previous centuries made this project so complete for me. The colors, composition, and the lighting around the neighborhood brought me to a new level in my photography using HDR (High Dynamic Range).”

The Fest Hall exhibit also features some of Mizrahi’s photography from Tanzania, where he photographed people and their environment. Mizrahi will donate 15 percent of sales to a group supporting Tanzanian children.
