50th anniversary gala “A Taste of the Good Life“,  Saturday, February 27th, 7:30 pm.

The anniversary gala will be held in Haaf Hall of the Grange Insurance building, 671  South High Street.  Complimentary parking is available in the Grange parking Garage at Front and Sycamore Streets (the entrance is on Front Street). Once you park, come down to the ground level to cross Sycamore Street and enter through the front door.

When you arrive you will find great friends, good music, and the tastiest fare imaginable! Each guest will receive 2 complimentary drink coupons, and anyone who might want another should be sure to bring cash; we won’t have the capacity to accept credit cards. The chefs are working on menus, our committee is finalizing plans, and we are all looking forward to sharing an exceptional evening with you!

   Last May, the College of Engineering at the University Of South Carolina celebrated its 100th anniversary and with a B.S in Mechanical Engineerring (class of ’58), I went black tie. 50th aniversary, German Village…of couse I will go black tie. Who knows…with a little bit of luck, I may be around to celebrate German Village’s 100th anniversary (I’m an eternal optimist).

   thanks sarah. i will begin the search for something dorothy fischer might have worn when she attended that first meeting of the charters. do you suppose one of the participating restaurants/bistros are considering a 50th Anniversary cocktail or brew? cause if so, i commit to drinking one a day for the rest of this year’s celebration.

   We have called for “German Village cocktail” dress….we don’t expect people to be wearing tuxes and gowns (unless they want to!), but defintely dressing to celebrate 50 years.
   Also, remember that a portion of each ticket ($45) can be considered a charitable contribution and is tax deductible.
   Looking forward to seeing everyone on Feb. 27th!

   sounds great. i’m wondering if the february gala is formal. do you think folks will be wearing tux and gowns?
