Bunny Koff’s art exhibit opening in Fest Hall on Friday, April 27, was a great success.

The event to celebrate Bunny’s work was combined with a “welcome new member” event.

1903 Photo Donated

Jeanette Bosworth donated this great photo of 53 Livingston Avenue from 1903. In the photo are John Heinmiller, the worker standing in the doorway with hands on hips next to co-owner George Kinnel. John is Bosworth’s grandfather and married Gertrude Bauman, the boss’s daughter. Gertrude is the one looking out the window at the right!

We love old documents and photos and stories, and we’re just about to launch a major effort to bring in new items. The Historic Preservation Committee, thanks to funding from last year’s inaugural “T 4 2, 200 For Tea” event, has purchased new software to both manage membership and donors AND to digitize our considerable archives. But we’re looking for new archival items as part of that software launch! Start combing your attics, basements and crawl spaces for old Village photos, architectural drawings, maps, abstracts and more. We’ll soon put out a call to collect your items and share them online with the world!

As part of its mission to be a leader in historic preservation and education, the German Village Society hopes to become – in a small way – the Ancestry.com of digital archives for Columbus’s South End. We can only do it with your help!

Fest Hall Decked Out

Fest Hall and the Scheurer Room were decked out by Garrett Hospitality this week for a major three-day event. Check out how amazing Betty Garrett made Fest Hall look for her guests!

Fun Goes Bowling

Wayne Webb’s Bowling was the host site for Fun Committee’s March 25 bowling and beveraging outing!

Village Pet co-owner and GVBC co-chair Jeff Lowe posted the best score. Willa Owens was voted “nicest to the pins” – but she did it in style as her nail polish matched her bowling ball!
