Adopt-A-School

Stewart Elementary School, located on Schiller Park at Stewart Ave, is German Village’s “adopted” school.  German Village residents have, for many years, volunteered their time to tutor students in grades K-5.  This involves a commitment of 1-2 hours per week during school hours (9:00-3pm) at which time tutors work with a student(s) on subject matter selected by the teacher; additionally, there is a before school program that utilizes tutors.  The program is flexible, fun, and very rewarding.  Tutors begin the program sometime in Sept. and continue through the end of schoolyear.
