Tour Guide
As an internationally recognized historic district just blocks from downtown Columbus, German Village has much to offer tour groups. The 233-acre district offers a glimpse of how a working-class neighborhood developed and grew in the early nineteenth century and how the passion of a small group drove the twentieth century rehabilitation efforts. All of this history attracts small tour groups and school children on field trips, as well as bus loads of tourists, event planners, travel agents, etc,

What an opportunity to become a volunteer tour guide, trained to explain the history, humor, and humanity of the community while leading your group through the brick streets of the area! The guided group tours sponsored by the GVS provide the most comprehensive overview of the history and restoration of German Village. All tours begin at the German Village Meeting Haus with an award-winning 12-minute video. Each member of the group receives a Visitor Guide of the area, which highlights area shops and restaurants. The tours are then designed to meet the needs of each group – scavenger hunts for the children, private garden tours for some groups, and explanations of history and public spaces for others.

Come and join our group of volunteer tour guides. You will learn even more about our community than you know now and have an opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Come help brag about our history and our present!
