German Village, the internationally recognized historic district just blocks from downtown Columbus, Ohio, has much to offer your group. The 233-acre district offers a glimpse of how a working-class neighborhood developed and grew in the early nineteenth century and how the passion of a small group drove the twentieth century rehabilitation efforts.
The guided group tours sponsored by the German Village Society provide the most comprehensive overview of the history and restoration of German Village. Volunteer tour guides trained to explain the history, humor, and humanity of the community will lead your group through the brick streets of the area. All tours begin at the German Village Meeting Haus, 588 South Third Street, with an award-winning 12-minute video. Each member of your group will receive a Visitor Guide of the area, which highlights area shops and restaurants.
Stop by our Visitor's Center at the German Village Meeting Haus Monday-Friday 9:00A-4:00P and Saturday 10:00A-2:00P. Our Visitor Center features a timeline history of German Village and the neighboring Brewery District, gift items, and visitor information. Please note that we are unable to accommodate Saturday or Sunday tours. As well, the week prior to our annual Haus und Garten tour (always the last Sunday of June) is considered a "tour-free zone."
NOTE: We require a two-week advance notice on guided tours. Any size group is welcome, however there is a base price of $100 for all adult/senior groups. Please contact P. Susan Sharrock @ 614.221.8888 or email, german@germanvillage.com, if you need further information or clarification.
