I’d Like To Volunteer

Get Connected, Stay Connected

Interested in getting connected to the neighborhood? There’s no better way than through the German Village Society. Meet new friends, explore areas that interest you, have a voice in things that matter, and help steer the future of German Village and the GVS.

Opportunities/Committees
- Civic Relations – Be an ambassador for the Village and help connect us with city officials and affinity groups.
- Community Garden – Claim a plot or share with a friend and grown your own vegetables.
- Development – Be a “friend raiser” for the Village and help us find and engage partners in support of our mission.
- Finance – Volunteer your financial or accounting skills to help watch over the Society’s budget.
- Gardeners – We need green thumbs and strong backs for Schiller, Frank Fetch and Huntington Gardens!
- Go Green/Go Grun – Help develop sustainable, green initiatives and education in our uniquely urban and historic community.
- Historic Preservation – Our most mission-centric committee! Help the Village retain the character and distinction of the past while creating a thriving and contemporary community in German Village.
- Food Pantry – Help Livingston United Methodist distribute groceries.
- Long-Range Planning – This group works toward shaping the future of German Village and helps to keep the Village a celebrated, vibrant downtown neighborhood with historic integrity and a charming, pedestrian-friendly streetscape.
- Marketing – Assist in designing and implementing consistent GVS brand standards across all printed and electronic materials.
- Nominating – Help identify and recruit the next leaders in German Village.
- Prost! – This informal, social group sponsors events, tastings and parties monthly.
- Special-Event Planning – Help plan Haus und Garten Tour, Monster Bash and more neighborhood favorites.
- Streetscape – Join a group that’s working to make our streets and public spaces beautiful, safe and welcoming.
- Stewart School Tutor – Connect with and mentor a student.
- Tour Guide – Tell the story of the settlement and restoration of German Village, including with scavenger hunts for school groups.
- Village Singers – If you love to sing, this is the group for you and auditions are held for specialty numbers only, so there’s a place for everyone.
- Visitor Center – Welcome Village guests and tell them about our historic neighborhood.
