Salon644 (and Head Of The Park Hair Salon) traces its roots to 1983 when Mindy Coffey opened the salon in what was a former confectionery storefront next to Schiller Park. The salon relocated to 644 Pearl Street in 2011 in order to expand its size for clients and to add additional hair stylists, nail technicians, hair products and services.
Mindy, Steven and Rhea will miss the park and all the activity around the Stewart Avenue School but the new location doubles our workspace and allows us to expand our services and staff. This allows us to offer an “adult-sized” restroom, small kitchen, larger waiting area as well as additional space for additional stylists and room to display and sell retail products.
Many clients have already noticed changes in how we are processing credit card transactions on an iPad, collecting client information and emails and this website. We hope clients appreciate the new features and look forward to welcoming them to our new location.
The current location was formerly the office for an architectural firm, F5 Design/Architecture, the offices for Benelava Stores and for over 60 years the primary location for Zwelling Printing. We are looking forward to sharing many happy memories with our current and future clients in our new location.
