Arch City Big Band

“The Arch City Big Band was founded in 2020, and is comprised of Columbus area musicians who have a passion for keeping Big Band music alive.  Under the direction of Mark Fox, the band plays a variety of crowd-pleasing instrumental and vocal arrangements.

The Arch City Big Band has performed at outdoor public events such as the Ohio Brass Arts Festival, several “Concerts on the Lawn” and at numerous private locations, including the Dublin Retirement Village.  The band plays regular concerts at Bethel International United Methodist Church, as the church generously allows them to rehearse at the facility.  This summer, the Arch City Big Band looks forward to playing at new venues, including Frank Fetch Park in German Village, the Big Band Showcase at Valley Dale Ballroom, and the Hilliard Summer Concert Series.

The Arch City Big Band is an all-volunteer band, and an integral part of its mission is to give back to the community.  Most of the band’s musicians began learning music in the Columbus area, and as lifelong musicians, they desire to share their enthusiasm and love for big band jazz by giving back to the very community that fostered their jazz education.  As such, the band plays for high school audiences whenever possible, most recently at Franklin Heights High School and Upper Scioto Valley High School.

The Arch City Big Band is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.  All donations received go directly to its modest expenses, and the remainder is preserved for giving back to young jazz musicians in the community.”
