Mother’s Day Weekend is a month away and final plans for Jazz and Juleps, GartenMarkt and Mother May I…. are all being touched up for a great day in German Village!
On Friday May 6 from 7 pm to 9 pm on the platz of the German Village Meeting Haus will be a smashing good GartenMarkt kick-off event — Jazz and Juleps.  Sara McNealey, Julep Team Leader will be serving savory hors d’oeuvres and drinks while Jazz Mary entertains you on the keyboard with melodic tunes.  Even more important will be the opportunity for you to have “first dibs” on all GartenMarkt merchandise e.g. plants, outdoor living accessories, one-of-a-kind artwork, jewelry and incredible jams and jellies!  Professional gardening assistants will walk you through the market and provide guidance in selecting just the right plants for your patio and garden.  Cost for this annual fun event is $25 per person.  Sara says, “Jazz and Juleps is still the cheapest, most fun, best food, and the best place to obtain “first dibs” on the most current plant material in the city.  Don’t miss this fun party!  Come on down!!!!!!!!!”   Reservations may be made by emailing Sara at .  Checks are made payable to the German Village Garten Club and mailed to P.O. Box 6489, Columbus, Ohio 43206.
If you cannot make Jazz and Juleps, then we hope to see you on Saturday May 7 at the GartenMarkt entrance.  Fresh baked goods and coffee for breakfast at the GartenMarkt will provide you the fortitude to stroll through the maize of plants and outdoor living accessories.  Hand-blown glass pond floats, birdhouses, ironware, moss baskets, jewelry and hard-to-find hosta and orchids are simply a sampling of what will be for sale.  The GartenMarkt team has looked far and wide for unique and specialized plants for this summer’s Village gardens.  One is always surprised with the lush looking and various textured plants.  Whether your garden theme is purple, red, orange, white or green the GartenMarkt has a variety of plants, herbs and vegetables for your summer garden.
Come early and stay late……..enjoy the day with family and friends.  GartenMarkt is a place to meet and eat, to chat with gardening experts, and to show your support for the hard-working German Village Garten Club.  Proceeds from this annual spring event support the planting and maintenance of all the large flower boxes on S. Third Street and Frank Fetch Park.  Funds also support the FREE concerts in Fetch Park from June through September each third Sunday.  The German Village Garten Club is a 501c(3) charitable organization and is dedicated to beautifying the brick paths of the Village and creating a social network across garden fences.
