On Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7-9 p.m., Storytellers of Central Ohio (SOCO) will present a spooky walking tour of German Village. The tour visits ghostly houses in the village where SOCO members will tell the strange and haunting histories of the former residents.
Think you’ve heard these stories? Think again! For the past three years, German Village Society, Columbus Landmarks Foundation and SOCO partnered for a walking tour of homes. This year, SOCO is transforming the tour and adding nationally known talent – so don’t miss this year’s version.
The tour starts at Beck Street School and you may park in the school’s lot.
Frank McGarvey has regularly been invited to tell spooky Halloween stories in Marietta and at the Dublin Grave Tales in Dublin, Ohio. This year, Frank was featured at The Southern Ohio Storytelling Festival. Frank has shared his spooky stories along with a ghostly laugh guaranteed to send shivers up your spine in schools all around Ohio.

Lyn Ford, an award, winning storyteller, has been featured several times at the Southern Ohio Storytelling Festival and at the National Storytelling Festival held in Jonesboro, Tenn. She has traveled around the U.S. and abroad, telling stories and giving workshops to schools and grownups alike.
The proceeds from this year’s tour will go to Columbus Story Adventures . CSA is a group that works through the Storytellers of Central Ohio bringing six weeks of storytelling to at-risk children during the summer. CSA storytellers provide an hour of oral storytelling to each group and often offer a workshop as well that builds on listening, speaking or writing skills. CSA has worked for the past 10 yeas with such groups as:The Dowd Center for Homeless Children, Run the Race, The Southside Settlement House and the Hispanic Coaltion. The money earned from the ghost tour will primarily be used to buy books so that we may provide a book for every child at every visit.
The Storytellers of Central Ohio, an organization devoted to the power and magic of the oral tradition, meets on the second Saturday of the month. Their website is: www.SOCOTALES.org
