Columbia Gas of Ohio and German Village Society reach agreement on infrastructure improvement projects and meter relocation

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbia Gas of Ohio and the German Village Society have reached a settlement agreement on the placement of natural gas meters in the historic community. Both parties agree that safety is the number one priority.

“I want to thank our customers for their patience during this time,” said Dan Creekmur, President of Columbia Gas of Ohio. “I am extremely proud of the personalized attention our team gave to each homeowner as we worked to safely relocate meters to outside locations while taking great care to maintain the historical integrity of the community.”

The natural gas replacement project in the area of City Park and Blenkner began in May 2017. During the project, Columbia Gas replaced more than 3,000 feet of natural gas mainline, installed new service lines and relocated 68 meters to exterior locations.

“We want to thank Columbia Gas for minimizing disruption to our community and maintaining our historic integrity while relocating meters,” said Shiloh Todorov, Executive Director of German Village Society. “We are confident through this settlement that ongoing work in the historic community of German Village will continue to have this focus to ensure that we maintain the work done for decades to preserve the historic nature of German Village.”

Highlights of the agreement:

“This agreement is a preservation win,” added Todorov. “We are pleased to recognize Columbia Gas as a preservation partner.”

The terms of this agreement will apply to all planned Columbia Gas projects going forward. The company will continue to replace the aging bare steel and cast iron lines over the next several years throughout German Village. The agreement is subject to approval of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
